Family Trip to George's Island

What a great day we had!! Today was our annual summer trip to George's Island. My family's been doing this for years and with Jay being outta work for a few weeks it was nice to have him come with us! This year it was me, Jay, Kassie, my mom (also known as Ranger Dee), Auntie Audrey, Jaccie, Carla, Walter, Jacque, Anthony and Nicholas- what a crew!!! Unfortunately, Auntie Nene couldn't make it this year =(

So Ranger Dee was on the first boat (shocker!) but was by herself cuz the boat was sold out...the rest of us got on the next one. We set up camp at our usual spot and got ourselves organized. Weather wise, it was a perfect day- hot, but not too hot and there was an incredible breeze. Mom, Kass and the boys took off for awhile and when they got back Kass was napping. That gave me and Jay a chance to walk around and see a few things like the old prison and hospital and a bunker type place where the people saw all the ships coming in and out of the island. It really is a cool place, especially if you like history...

Well Kassie nap didn't last very long because Nick was practically attacked by a seagull for Anthony's sandwich that was left on the table!! So he's screaming (can you say dramatic?!) and we're all laughing so she woke up...full of piss and vinegar and ready to run around!! Can I just tell you, how insane the birds were this year? There's a ton of geese and seagulls on the island and they were nuts!! They swooped in and grabbed sandwiches off the tables, off the blankets- they even tried to grab the box of Teddy Grahams off the table and managed to poke a beak mark in the box! Crazy birds...

Ranger Dee took the boys and Jay for a little tour of the island and when they got back Jaccie, Carla, Walter, Jacque and the kids got on the next boat back to Boston while the rest of us just chilled. Audrey couldn't find her ticket to get back on the boat and thought they weren't gonna let her on- like she swam over or something!! We piled on the boat for the ride home totally exhausted!! Kassie absolutely loved it and had so much fun and so did we! It really was a great day...

Breakfast with the Chickens (and a Rooster)

So for Law's birthday (which was Thursday) we all decided to get together for breakfast. We'd been emailing back and forth all week and decided on breakfast at 11 @ The Winthrop Arms...all set, right? Nope! I of course was running late, but when I got there (everyone was waiting for me) everyone rushed up to the truck and yelled, "Don't park the truck!" The place was closed!!! So now we have to find a place to go for me, Law, Mish P, Mish J, Nikki, Kris, Teresa, Kassie and Chase (the rooster)...we ended up at IHOP, where else? Poor Lauren just wanted her chocolate and banana pancakes from a long time ago and they, of course, didn't have them! So she looks at the menu for another 10 minutes and decides on the special New York Cheesecake Pancakes...which they didn't have either!!! Poor girl just wants some damn pancakes! We had a great time, all of us laughing and telling stories and gossiping- a normal chicken get together!! It was fun...now we need an excuse in a few weeks to do it again!

A Day at the Aquarium

Today we went to the New England Aquarium!! Kassie has never been there and we were so excited to see how she'd react to seeing all the fish and other animals, especially considering how much she LOVES our fish tank at home! We'd been planning to go all week, but with all the shitty weather we've been having, today was the day we decided to go.

We stood in line (in the blazing sun) for almost 25 minutes just to get tickets!! Kassie was getting a little restless - can you blame her?- so me and Jay took turns taking her over to the harbor seal tank to occupy her. They were so cute! There was like, 6 of them in the outside tank and every single one of them were just lounging around on the rocks. None of them were in the water (which I thought was kinda strange, considering how hot it was!) but a few looked like if they moved an inch they were gonna fall right in!! Kass kept pointing to them and saying "pup". These days, any animal she comes across is a "pup"...

As soon as you walk in you hit the penguin exhibit and lucky us, it was feeding time. These two people are in their wetsuits, wading around and blowing a whistle!?! We were like, "WTF??" then the coolest thing happened- all the penguins came over to the rock where the people were with the food, and in a single file line they climbed up the rock, got their piece of fish and swam off...it was so freakin cute!!!

We worked our way up around the huge tank in the middle and saw all kinds of cool animals!! There were sharks, and fish and sting rays and even turtles all swimming around in this gigantic tank- it was so cool! We were up on the very top, looking down into the tank and it was so amazing to see all the animals! The HUGE turtle was eating, and there was an employee sitting on this little grate hanging over the water feeding him bagged lettuce. He'd swim over, grab some lettuce, make a lap around the tank and come back for more. He was adorable! Kass started getting cranky so we made our way down...

We stopped at a few more tanks on our way down and Kass really liked the jellyfish and the huge tank filled with the school of fish- though she got a little pissed that she couldn't catch any of them!

The train ride home was just peachy thanks to all the renovations the "T"'s doing to the stations! Wood Island Station was closed to we woudl have had to get off at Airport, get on a shuttle bus and go 1 stop then walk home from Wood Island- which with an unhappy, tired baby in a carriage is not as easy as it sounds!! So, we went one stop ahead to Orient Heights and walked home from there...the extra 10 minutes was SO worth avoiding the aggrevation of a shuttle bus!
