Entertaining Tuesdays- Basic Tips for Your Summer Parties
Welcome to the first post in my new Entertaining Tuesday series! With summer in full swing, most of us are spending more time in our yards and that means having friends over. I'll be sharing tips for easy summer entertaining and recipes- maybe even a summer craft or two thrown in just for fun!!
Let's start with some basic tips for easy summer entertaining.

Start with seating for your guests ... make sure you've got plenty of comfortable places to sit and a large enough table. You can always place tables together if you need to and hide them under a fitted table cloth! The key is to make everyone feel like you were expecting them. Since you'll be out in the sun all day make sure to have some shade like an umbrella, your guests that want to get out of the sun for a few will really appreciate it!!
For food, you can't go wrong with hot dogs, burgers and corn on the cob-grilled of course!!! I always have a veggie tray with dip, chips and a few other nibblers for guests to snack on. An ice bucket is a life saver-trust me! It's nice to offer a variety of drinks, both alcoholic and non...set up a table as the bar with everything needed and let guests be their own mixologists. Be sure to use shatter-proof glassware like these festive wine glasses from Target.
Grab your iPod and make a playlist of fun summer songs or whatever you like. And don't forget about games! Who doesn't love a water balloon toss or horseshoes?! If your feeling extra ambitious, you can set up an outdoor scavenger hunt! You can find scavenger hunt lists and ideas here.
If your party's going past dark, don't forget some candles! They create a relaxing atmosphere and if need be you can purchase the citronella ones to keep bugs away. One of the greatest things to have for outdoor summer parties is a fire pit like this one, from Walmart. It's so much fun to roast marshmellows and make s'mores at the end of the night!!
If you follow these simple tips you'll have a party that everyone will and enjoy! There's nothing that says summer more than being outside, enjoying good food and great friends!!!

I love the design of your blog - found you through 31DBBB.
We've just ordered one of these fire pit things (in the UK) but we've ordered one which has a removeable grill on it too so we can also use it as a BBQ - so looking forward to it arriving.
Have a lovely day,
Jade
Mike and I have a fire pit. We'll have to invite you guys over one day. He won it from Marlboro. He wrote into a contest to win money and his 2nd or 3rd place prize was the fire pit. They didn't even notify us, it just showed up one day by UPS. It was funny. I called him and was like uh your fire pit arrived. (We were living in the apartment so where was he gonna put it?!) and he was like um what fire pit? lmao.
Love your blog as well, lets stay in touch!
Great tips! My daughters have been trying to get me to buy a fire pit forever. I think husband is just about ready to cave ~ we spent time at his friend's place and the hubs loved the pit.
